I Remember!

Here I sit and ponder, about the world in change,
how the daily news sound uncertain and strange,
I think 'Oh my goodness' the world's going crazy
how so many people are just selfish and lazy!

I look at my poppy that I wear with pride,
for all the soldiers who have served and died,
who left behind loved ones and went afar,
to fight for freedom, for a life with no war!

For the people who gave their lives for our Land,
today, on guard for Thee I will stand!
At 11:11 on the 11th of November,
I will never forget and always remember!

My poem to the One I love,

I want to paint a picture of what a wonderful person you truly are,
how I have searched for you and wished you here upon a fallen star.
How your big heart warmed me up when the world was cold,
I'll sketch you beside me on the porch-swing when I'm old.
I 'll paint a portrait of happiness, full of passion and tenderness,
how you tell me I'm beautiful even when I feel like a mess!
With little brush strokes I'll highlight the many things we do,
how my world now rotates around me and you.
I would mix the colours of sunshine and warmth,
to highlight my most treasured times in your arms.
I'm not a poet, I'm not an artist but one thing is true,
even Picasso couldn't paint the love I feel for you!

Wind at our back

I can't wait 'til the Summer,
for this cold to be gone,
for the leaves to be sprouting,
and those spring-morning runs!

When we pack our horse,
and polish its chrome,
dressed in leather and cool,
call the highway our own.

Imagine the fun
those roads heel to us
Our days in the sun,
with a tank full of gas.

When the winds kiss our cheeks,
in the mid-summer day,
when the rays of the sun,
will guide our way.

 Can you promise me, babe,
that this winter so hard,
is just step on the road,
where we're never apart!

All my love,
ICP

One more time?

He told me he wears his heart on his sleeve,
I told him that my heart had been broken again.
He called me beautiful and meant it,
I called him, because I was lonely.
He made me laugh even so I didn't want to,
I made the decision to let go of the pain.
He send me flowers without a reason,
I send out that letter that I've been holding on to.
He held my hand when I was weak,
I held onto the moment and let go of the past.
He promised everything will be all-right,
I promised me to put myself first.
he asked me to be his future,
I asked myself should I risk one more time
He kissed me and
                I kissed him back!

Bird Eye View

Bird Eye View!

by Ilona Rosenthal-Payne

I just sat here dreaming,
on my window with a tea,
when I saw something gleaming,
on the branch before me!

I focused my eyes,
on the branch with the game,
that to my surprise,
was beautiful & tame!

I scrolled on my screen,
with the care of a hunter,
I blinked at the scene,
for a second or under!

Then I lifted my view,
back to the trees in the winds,
no feathers in blue,
that carry its wings?

The moral of the story,
the lesson of the dream:
if you get a glimpse of glory,
even small it might seem!

Keep your mind on above,
because in the blink of an eye,
can the moments you love,
have passed you by!

I had a dream, that I went through a metamorphosis,
Somebody was  peeling off a layer that's called youth
and wrapped a worn out cape called age around me.

Even though I didn't know you yesterday,
you gave me the hope to continue my journey,
that eventually lead me straight into your arms.

For You

by Ilona Rosenthal-Payne

I walked life's road of cobblestone,
gradually made peace with being alone.
Hopes of love were slowly melting away,
while praying for you each and every day.

I ran the errands of life's firm demands,
when secretly dreaming of holding your hands.
Envisioning a future with you by my side,
Wishing for you with my arms open wide.

Even though I've never met you before,
I knew you already before you walked through that door.
Your changed my life in a blink of an eye,
I'm convinced you fell through a hole in the sky!

Ambrosia

by Ilona Rosenthal-Payne

Pleasing nectar of the gods,
preservation of the mortal.
Gilded by the rays of the sun
vines ascending on glory's portal.

Heaven's tears metamorphosed,
by Divinity's only heir.
Companion of the comfort-less
Jacob's ladder in a pit of despair.

Divine, comfort-giving gold,
Intoxicating pleasure.
A mocker that leads astray the wise,
but still my savoured pleasure!

Star at night

by Ilona Rosenthal-Payne

I'm a star floating in the celestial sphere,
pacing in circles of parallel planes.
glancing at bodies orbiting near,
crystallized in a charismatic frame.

My courage rests in an opaque state,
enclosed by a shell of might,
I entrust my judgement to navigate
across starry skies at night.

Goodbye my Daughter

by Ilona Rosenthal Payne

A beautiful bird spreading it's wings,
leaving the nest, exploring new things,
singing a song of a future of light,
living in a dream not only at night.

Still soaring through the valley of youth,
while constantly searching for the voice of truth,
looking ahead to the horizon afar,
never missing to wish upon a star.

How I wish you were little once more,
too tiny & short to walk out that door,
but now you're a lady all ready to go,
excited to leave, your cheeks are aglow.

Goodbye my sweetheart, I will try not to cry,
reminiscing on memories from a time gone by.
I love you my daughter, I'm so proud of you,
for being who you are and for what you do.

Don't forget where you came from,
because whatever may come,
I'll give you my love and wish you the best
and will always be waiting here in the nest.

Take care of yourself Sam!
I love you!
