My poem to the One I love,

I want to paint a picture of what a wonderful person you truly are,
how I have searched for you and wished you here upon a fallen star.
How your big heart warmed me up when the world was cold,
I'll sketch you beside me on the porch-swing when I'm old.
I 'll paint a portrait of happiness, full of passion and tenderness,
how you tell me I'm beautiful even when I feel like a mess!
With little brush strokes I'll highlight the many things we do,
how my world now rotates around me and you.
I would mix the colours of sunshine and warmth,
to highlight my most treasured times in your arms.
I'm not a poet, I'm not an artist but one thing is true,
even Picasso couldn't paint the love I feel for you!

The day I became your Oma,

I knew how lucky I was to be there welcoming you into this world,
a world that can sometimes be cruel, but a world where you can see love by giving it!
I will protect you from being hurt and if you do, will be there to soothe you!
I can't wait for Sunday visits and little vacations, fishing for frogs and chasing butterflies.
Soon I will  teach you how to build stuff and fix things, how to paint and how to weld!
I will try to give you knowledge, teach you kindness and make you strong,
so when you start your race of life, I can be on the sideline cheering you on.
I will be there on your journey, being your biggest fan,
love always, Oma :)
